Weekly Five

There is no time of year that is more optimistic than spring-time. As buds begin to bloom and the briskness of Winter melts away to reveal lively greenery, there is something about this time of year that is refreshing, revitalizing and deeply inspiring. With this rejuvenating sense of newness, I can’t help but find myself seeking new products, new fashion, new music, new treats, new everything. Even more so than on New Years, the first few weeks of spring are when I feel like making personal changes, restructuring different aspects of my life and starting fresh. With spring cleaning comes spring shopping. With this in mind, I have curated a list of what has caught my eye this week.

A sucker for all things ocean-inspired, I swear I was a mermaid in a past life. This whimsical little number instantly evokes images of majestic azure seas, salty sea air and powerful crashing waves.
There’s nothing like a statement making piece of art to instantly inject some life and vibrancy into a home. That being said, not all of us have the budget for high-end, abstract art. This simple little DIY will create amazing, conversation-starting pieces in minutes, for a microscopic fraction of the price of a high-end painting. All you need are a few sharpies and a few minutes.
A deliciously decadent twist on a classic breakfast treat. Play around with different kinds of fruit, spices, and add-ins depending on your taste and mood (salted caramel apple anyone?).
As a lady who is constantly on the run, if I can’t do my hair in under five minutes, I am straight-up not doing in. I will leave my house with my curls wild and crazy and a brush still stuck within the depths of my puffy mane. Ain’t nobody got time for any 20 minute hair-dos. These extremely cute styles are easy as pie and are very chic in an effortless, undone kind of way.
Emma (the lovely lady pictured on the left while on the way to Vancouver Fashion Week with her friend and blogging partner Megan) is a friend and colleague of mind who not only has an impeccable sense of style and eye for detail, but is also an incredibly talented writer. Together with her friend Megan, she has co-created Witchslapped, an empowering, refreshingly original (these ladies pride themselves on dressing like literally no one else out there) feminist fashion blog. The mantra of Witchslapped is to “dress up as yourself”. Within a sea of publications that are constantly dictating what we all should be wearing, buying, eating, drinking and listening to, it’s uncommon to find a blog that encourages uniqueness and confronts prominent social issues in such a fun and playful way. With inspiring fashion, fabulous music and stunning photography, Witchslapped is a must-follow for a unique perspective on fashion, art, music and its impact on society.
