I love vintage. Honestly, almost every one of my most cherished wardrobe pieces was dug out of a thrift shop or vintage boutique. They have a charm and uniqueness that you simply can’t find in modern clothing. One area where this principle doesn’t always apply is with swimwear. Although retro-inspired swimwear has been popular for years I have been hesitant to buy into the trend. Frumpy one piece styles, frou-frou ruffles, and bottoms reminiscent of granny panties have never done it for me. However, this season I have seen designers like Samantha Pleet, Adriana Degreas, Matthew Williamson and Lenny Neimeyer create collections of swimwear that have all of the charms of decades past without sacrificing on sexiness or flattering fits. With sweet polka dots, heart motifs and feminine florals, these vintage-inspired styles are anything but frumpy.
