The single perk of the non-stop rain we have been enduring in Vancouver for the past six months is that now everything is gorgeously green. From dark olive to emerald, my surroundings are like a mosaic of different shades of green. Even though summer is still a couple of months away, the sun is finally shining and it has me daydreaming of hot days and vacations in exotic places. The other day I found myself watching episodes of Gilligan’s Island and it completely inspired me. I had never really watched the show beforehand (although my parents love it) and everything from the clothes to the beauty of the landscape made me fantasize about what it would be like if I lived on an undiscovered tropical island. In reality I would obviously hate it (I enjoy the many amenities of living in the city) but the untouched beauty of the jungles and lush greenery is giving me a serious case of wanderlust. While my boyfriend and I have been talking about traveling somewhere exotic and adventurous (Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam are a few of the places we have discussed), in the mean time I will be using fashion to satisfy my travel bug. Opulent leafy prints and batik patterns are absolutely gorgeous for spring and summer and evoke images of wild jungles and tropical paradises. Until I can hop on a plane, these beautiful pieces will have to do.
