Six Stunning Scents For Spring

In the same way that people like to update their wardrobe from season to season with a few key pieces, I like to refresh my perfume arsenal. As the chillier months melt away, I am looking forward to a lighter, more romantic scent wardrobe, filled with bright fruits, feminine florals, and earthy aromas that bring me closer to nature. With this in mind, I have curated a short and sweet list of six stunning scents that absolutely scream ‘spring is here!’. Keep scrolling to check them out!

1 // Pop By Stella McCartney

Notes: Tomato Leaf, Violet Leaf, Green Mandarin, Violet, Frangipani, Tuberose, Sandalwood, Cedar, Musk

When you look at the notes for Pop by Stella McCartney, you don’t really get a strong impression of what this scent will smell like. Despite its predominantly floral, herbaceous ingredients, Pop is bright, flirty and optimistic. If it was a colour, it would be shocking pink. It has a sweet, almost edible aroma that is accented with ultra-feminine floral aromas. Wear it on those sunny spring days when you want to be dancing through your 9-to-5.

2 // Marche au Fleurs By Fragonard

Notes: Melon, Black Currant, Sweet Pea, Lily-Of-The-Valley, Peach, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Musk

Fresh and almost watery in it’s opening, Marche aux Fleurs truly does smell like a walk through a rain-soaked French garden. Juicy black currant and ripe melon add a touch of sweetness to a dewy bouquet of white florals.

3 // White Potion By Ayala Moriel

Notes: Ylang-Ylang, Grapefruit, Rosewood, Tuberose, Jasmine, Gardenia, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Coconut

Tuberose is the sultry vamp of the flower world. It’s not shy and it doesn’t hold back. It’s the star of the show in indie-perfumer Ayala Moriel’s decadent confection. White Potion is unapologetically sexy with sweet, almost carnal tuberose combined with juicy grapefruit, creamy sandalwood and beachy coconut. It’s a creamy, romantic fragrance that softens throughout the day, leaving a rich, floral trail that will intoxicate those around you all day long.

4 //Β Baiser VolΓ© By Cartier

Note: Lily Pistil, Citrus, Lily Petals, Lily Leaves, Green Notes

If spring could be incapsulated in a singular fragrance, it would be the delicate, powdery aroma of a fresh-cut bouquet of lilies. This ingenious cocktail by Cartier captures this timeless scent, surrounding all parts of the lily – the pistil, petals and leaves. I love spritzing this on when I leave the house on a spring day. Its bright and joyful, with an aroma that garners compliments from ladies and gentlemen alike.

5 // Curious By Britney Spears

Notes: Louisiana Magnolia, Anjou Pear, Lotus, Tuberose, Cyclamen, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Musk, White Woods, Vanilla

What?! A celebrity scent?! No seriously, Curious by Britney Spears is simply gorgeous and so ‘spring’ that it had to be included on this list. It opens with a refreshing, watery burst of juicy pear, Louisiana magnolia and lotus. As it continues to bloom, the intensive floral heart is enveloped in a warm, sultry blanket of sandalwood, musk, vanilla and precious woods. This fragrance has been flying off its shelf since 2004 and it’s not a surprise why. Curious may be a celebrity-endorsed scent but it’s effortlessly elegant, feminine and timeless.

6 // Wisteria Blue By Nest Fragrances

Notes: French Wisteria, Bulgarian Rose, Imperial Jasmine

Romantic and regal are the two words that could best describe Wisteria Blue. Its simple composition proves that a complicated array of notes doesn’t always mean that a scent is more interesting. The three distinctive but complimentary notes blend together perfectly, creating a soft, velvety scent that is perfect for everyday (even office!) wear. It’s the kind of airy spring scent that you won’t want to start your day without!

Have you tried any of these fragrances? What is your spring signature?

Top 6 Lip Plumpers

I remember in the early 2000s everyone was chasing after a plumper pout. From lip injections to liner, it seemed like everyone was trying to get the Angelina Jolie look. Flash forward to 2016 and everyone is trying to emulate Kylie Jenner with copious amounts of lip liner and matte lipstick. Another temporary alternative to painful and expensive lip injections is plumping lip glosses. Do they really work or are they just lip glosses that tingle? I have tried many lip plumping glosses over the years and below are my six favorites.

1 // DuWop Lip Venom

This one is very expensive for its size (these tubes last me about three months) but it does work. I like that it is a clear formula, it’s not too shiny, and it makes my lips look full, naturally pink (it enhances my own lip colour), with just a touch of shine. Are the results dramatic? No. I don’t suddenly morph into Rosie Huntington-Whiteley when I use this gloss but the results are noticeable. Plus I enjoy the tingling sensation and the root beer-esquire scent.

2 // Fusion Beauty Lip Gloss

At around $40 a tube, these glosses are hella expensive. That being said, the collagen rich formula is hydrating, silky, and non-sticky. The colours are also vibrant and gorgeous. As far as its plumping abilities go, it’s effects are subtle but visible. It gives a just-finished-making-out, slightly swollen effect.

3 // Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker

This gloss is my all-time favorite. It is pretty sticky (wearing this with my hair down in windy weather is pretty much a no-no) but it gives me the best, most bee-stung results. It tingles a lot, to the point where I feel like my lips are vibrating, but I am left with full, pouty, rosy lips. Bonus: it smells like chocolate and lasts for ages.

4 // Too Faced Lip Injection

This plumping serum promises to make one’s lips fuller with long term effects after prolonged use. While I don’t necessarily feel that this has made my lips genuinely fuller, it definitely gives me a plumper pout after I apply it. It makes my lips tingle, almost uncomfortably so, but it also makes my lips red in a just bitten kind of way.

5 // Smashbox O-Plump

I really love this gloss and it is my second favorite on this list. It has a silky texture, gives just a hint of shine and creates a soft, subtle, natural looking pout. I love the colour it gives my lips as well. It goes on clear and then transforms into the prettiest, rose pink ever. This is a great gloss period, but it also creates results that are noticeable and beautiful.

6 // NYX Pump It Up Lip Plumper

I love NYX products, I really do. This plumping gloss is no exception. It’s results are not dramatic and it won’t give you lips that are noticeably bigger but it will make your lips look more pillowy, soft, and hydrated. It also gives just the right amount of shine. I like to layer it over my lipsticks and I find that the combination of my lipstick with this gloss makes my lips look fuller. This is a nice lip gloss overall but if you’re expecting to look like Angelina Jolie, this isn’t going to give you the trout pout you are looking for. It is a nice product though and one that I would recommend if you are looking for an effect that is more subtle.

Have you tried any of these plumping glosses? Are there any out there that you love and I should try? Let me know in the comments!
