April Beauty Picks

So I really had quite the opportunity to discover new beauty products this month. Why? I lost my entire bag of makeup in a cab on the way home from my friend’s house. Cue the violins. So after I had a good little cry (kidding, not kidding) I had to go out and stock up on all new beauty essentials. The silver lining of my taxi tragedy was that I found a few gems that I absolutely love. From a mascara that can withstand sweat, rain, tears, and naps, to a luxe serum that has pearls in it, these are my five favorite beauty finds of the month.

1 // Artistry – Ideal Radiance Illuminating Essence

First things first, this serum is a freaking godsend. My cousin Marina actually introduced me to Artistry when she began selling the line and I instantly became intrigued by its quality and cult-like following (Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Lopez are fans). It was difficult to choose which products I wanted to buy, but I ended up settling on this one. My skin is pretty clear but I have always been prone to blotchiness and dullness. With antioxidant packed ingredients like acerola cherry and skin-soothing pearl protein and flower essences, this oil free serum has already made my complexion brighter and my skin tone more even and fresh looking. It’s a splurge at $133 but I think it’s worth every penny.

2 // CoverGirl – LashBlast 24HR Mascara

If there is one thing I never leave the house without, it’s a few coats of mascara on my lashes. My biggest pet peeve however, is when it flakes under my eyes and I look like a raccoon at the end of the day. This is one of the few mascaras I have found that looks as fresh at 7 pm as it did when I applied it at 7 am. It makes my lashes full, long, and lush and doesn’t flake at all. The only flaw? It’s a bitch to take off. I find coconut oil does the trick though, and it’s a small price to pay for fresh, fluttery lashes all day long.

3 // Revlon – Kiss Balm in Berry Burst

I’m more of a lipstick gal than a balm girl, but this tinted formula is kind of like a hybrid between the two. It’s super hydrating and leaved a pretty wash of colour on my lips that brightens my whole face. It’s also SPF 20 which is an extra bonus. I love this for when I don’t want to have a dramatically bold lip but I still want a little colour.

4 // Marc Jacobs – Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer

I love this eye liner for the same reason that I love CoverGirl’s Lashblast 24HR Mascara. It. Lasts. All. Day. Long. I truly hate when my eye makeup smudges and this highly pigmented gem never fades. Unlike the mascara, this is super easy to wash off. It glides on easily and can make my eyes look subtly defined or sultry and dramatic. It’s pricey at $33, but I love, love, love it.

5 // Artistry Essentials – Pore Cleansing Masque

My favorite thing to do after work is as follows: light a few candles, switch on Netflix, apply this mask. My face always feels a bit greasy at the end of the day and this deep cleansing mask is perfect for soaking up excess oil. With mineral clay, brightening ginseng, and nourishing copper and zinc, this reaches deep into my pores to pull out dirt, debris, and sebum. It also tingles in a very satisfying way that makes me feel like it’s really working. I use this two or three times a week depending on what my skin needs, and it leaves my complexion soft, smooth, and matte. It also doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, but as always, you should always spot test a mask before slathering it all over your face.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? Let’s chat in the comments!

Au Naturel

I have a ton of beauty products littering my life, ahem, vanity. Despite this fact, every now and then I like to put my Martha Stewart pants on and mix up my own skin elixirs using time tested natural ingredients, most of which can be found in my kitchen. What’s great about making one’s own beauty products, aside from it being a lot of fun, is that you can decide exactly what goes in it. This means that there will be no nasty preservatives or cheap, irritating ingredients coming in contact with your skin (mineral oil is the WORST and is in so many store bought moisturizers). You can also customize your potions to better suit your skin type, whether you have ultra sensitive skin or your complexion is a little more on the oily side. Below are four of my go-to beauty DIYs. They can all be made in five minutes out of four ingredients or less. So slice up some cucumber for your eyes, light a scented candle, and pamper yourself with an at home spa day.

matcha-rose-yogurt-face-mask

1 // Matcha Rose Face Mask

Matcha (finely ground green tea) is chock full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that your skin loves. Rosewater is a natural humectant (draws moisture into the skin, keeping it hydrated) and has anti-aging and antibacterial properties that keeps your skin soft, supple, and youthful. Plain yogurt is incredibly soothing and helps to hydrate your skin while calming redness. This mask is very gentle and excellent for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. I like to do a mask like this two or three times a week to keep it in tip-top shape.

Things You’ll Need

  • 1 tsp rose water
  • 2 tbsp matcha powder
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt

Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl until the mask turns a pale green and is a creamy consistency. Spread it evenly over your face and leave on for 15 minutes before removing with a warm washcloth. Rinse your face with cold water and apply a light moisturizer to lock in the hydrating effects of the mask. Easy peasy.

honey-lemon-sugar-scrub

2 // Honey Lemon Sugar Scrub

Honey has natural antibacterial and moisturizing properties, making it an excellent ingredient for fighting both acne and dry, flaky skin (combination complexions, this is your holy grail). Brown sugar softens skin and sloughs away blockages and dead cells, while olive oil deeply hydrates. Lemon juice is great for balancing oil production while brightening dull, tired skin. This scrub can be used on the face and the body. If your skin is sensitive, ease up on the lemon juice as it can be irritating for temperamental complexions. This is great for deep cleansing the skin, keeping it looking glowy and radiant. Because of the astringent lemon juice and scrubby sugar, I would not use this scrub more frequently than once or twice a week.

Things You’ll Need

  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Enough olive oil to get a fluffy consistency

Combine ingredients in a bowl until you get a fluffy, snow-like consistency. Customize the mixture depending on your skin type – if your skin is dry, add more honey and olive oil, if your skin is oily, add extra lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your skin in gentle, circular motions. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. Apply a light lotion to make your skin even more soft. Your face will feel like a baby’s tush, no joke.

balancing-witch-hazel-lavender-chamomille-toner

3 // Balancing Witch Hazel Toner

Toner is an important, but all too often skipped step in most people’s beauty regimes. This simple version only has three ingredients but powerfully cleanses the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. Witch hazel, a potent natural material in many clarifying skincare products, helps to kill acne-causing bacteria while balancing oil production. Lavender soothes the skin while acting as a mild astringent, and chamomile tea calms redness and irritation. Use this toner before bed to prep your skin for your moisturizer. Get ready to say ‘bye felicia’ to your pimples.

Things You’ll Need

  • 1 cup of witch hazel
  • 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 1/2 cup of chamomile tea (brewed and cooled)

Mix all of the ingredients well and strain into an air-tight bottle. Keep your toner stored in the fridge to keep it fresh – plus keeping it cold adds to the tingly-clean sensation you will feel when you use it. After cleansing, apply it to your face with a cotton ball. Don’t rinse it off and allow it to sink it before applying your moisturizer. This is my favorite toner and I find it really helps to ward off pimples, even during shark week when my hormones make me breakout like cray.

coconut-argan-hair-mask

4 // Coconut Argan Hair Mask

If you have dry or curly hair like mine, this deeply hydrating mask is a god-send. Even if you don’t, it will help to keep your stresses glossy and softer than a baby bunny. I’ll tell you right now, the consistency is gross and it doesn’t smell great. I hate the smell of raw egg, but it is incredibly nourishing and helps to smooth the hair follicles while strengthening your strands and preventing breakages. Coconut and argan oil are also fantastic lightweight moisturizers that penetrate deeply into each strand, keeping your hair hydrated and unbelievable shiny. I use this mask once or twice a month (although I could stand to use it more) and it totally bans frizz, keeping my mane smooth and silky. I am also very prone to split-ends and this mask really prevents my strands from breaking, meaning that my hair stays a lot healthier in between hair cuts. It is worth braving the slightly unpleasant smell, and after you wash it out you will be rewarded with gorgeous, mermaid hair. You simply have to suck it up and let your hair soak it up.

Things You’ll Need

  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp argan oil
  • 1 egg

Melt the coconut oil in the microwave so that it is a liquid consistency. Whisk it together with a whole egg and the argan oil and apply to your hair, focusing especially on the ends. Wrap your head in a shower cap (or towel if that’s all you have) and let the mask soak in for 30 mins to an hour. Afterwards, wash the mask out of your hair and shampoo and condition as you normally would. After using this mask, I like to apply leave in conditioner to enhance its hydrating effects. That being said, you don’t need to, and if your hair is oily you would be better off skipping it. Let your hair air dry and resist the urge to make everyone around you touch your silky soft hair.

Best of Beauty | Cake

If you have been reading any of my other posts, you know that I truly love all things beauty. I love trying new brands and products and I believe that switching up one’s beauty and skincare routine every now and then keeps it fresh, interesting, and effective. There are a few brands out there that I really love – Tarte, Aveeno, and LUSH are a few of my favorites. Every now and then, however, I come across a line of products that blows me away. Canadian company Cake Beauty is one of those brands. Started by CEO Heather Reier in Kitchener, Ontario, Cake began as a small assortment of vegan, all-natural beauty products and then blossomed into a full-fledged line of everything from bath goodies to hair and skincare products. Everything from Cake is made with cruelty-free practices and vegan ingredients, so you can rest easy knowing that these products are not only effective and sweet smelling, they are made with lots of care and conscience. I have a ton of Cake products and always find myself buying more when I come across them. Not only do they work like a dream (their dry shampoo – see below – is the stuff freshly showered dreams are made of) but they smell absolutely delicious. When it comes to Cake I could go on and on but I decided to cap my list of favorite products at six (just so that this post isn’t the length of War and Peace). So with that in mind, here are my top sweet treats from this Canadian confection.

1 // Desserted Island Bath & Shower Froth

The best way to unwind after a long hard day? A hot bath filled with luxurious coconut and Tahitian vanilla scented bubbles of course! This sweet smelling gel lathers up like crazy, filling your tub with fragrant, frothy foam reminiscent of whipped cream. Bonus: this multitasking formula can also be used as a shower gel!

2 // The Do-Gooder Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray

It’s gross to admit, but I use a lot of dry shampoo. Like too much. My hair is so dry and curly and gets really frizzy and dull if I wash it everyday, so I try to skip a day. Sometimes that skipped ‘day’ becomes two or three days (ew, I know) and that’s where this bad boy comes in handy. Unlike a lot of other dry shampoos out there, this dry spray leaves ZERO white reside and leaves my strands looking and feeling miraculously clean (how?!) and not at all sticky. The scent is a little bit strong at first, but it does smell like lemon sugar so I am not complaining.

3 // The Locks Smith Hydrating Dry Conditioner Spray

Whether your hair is dry to the point of crispy like mine, or a bit on the oilier side, this dry conditioner spray is pretty fantastic for all hair types. It’s hydrating but lightweight and adds a glossy sheen to hair without making it look greasy or weighed down (the downfall of a lot of leave-in conditioners). It’s filled with ultra moisturizing ingredients such as coconut and argan oil, which keep your tresses soft and silky, even if you’ve just heat styled the sh*t out of them. The yummy caramel-vanilla-lemon scent is the icing on the cake – shameless pun totally intended.

4 // Inca Rejuvenating Facial Oil

I am a huge fan of facial oils and this one is the cream of the crop. It’s made with antioxidant and omega (3, 6, and 9) rich inca inchi oil, as well as grape seed oil and vitamin E. The freshly peeled orange scent doesn’t hurt either. Use it to give your complexion a healthy, hydrated glow, or smooth a tiny bit onto your hair to tame split-ends and frizz.

5 // Delectable Everything Balm

As a girl who is constantly on the go, I appreciate products that are made to do it all. This moisturizing, delicious smelling balm literally (and I do mean literally) does IT ALL.  It’s made with super ingredients such as cocoa butter, castor oil, shea butter, and coconut and sunflower oil.It feels utterly delightful on the lips and skin (it melts on contact like butter). So, what does this super hero of a product do, you ask? Every. Damn. Thing. It can be used as a lip balm, to moisturize dry skin, to plump up lips, to smooth frizz, to soothe itchiness, sunburns, and bug bites. It can be used to seal split ends, to fade under-eye circles, and tame unruly eyebrows. You can also use it as a highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones! I keep one in my purse religiously and I am totally addicted to it. Because why wouldn’t I be? It’s basically my vanity in a tube. If you take anything away from this post, it’s that you need this. You need it.

6 // Desserted Island Supreme Body Mousse

How many lotions can a girl have? A lot. I have too many lotions and it’s getting to the point where I have no space at all on my dresser (partly because of my perfume collection as well – I now have 80 fragrances. I should be on an episode of Hoarders.). Despite this fact, I couldn’t help adding this delicious confection to my excessive collection. It was love at first sniff and touch and there are so many reasons I adore it. Reason number 1: it smells like a tropical vacation with dreamy notes of coconut and vanilla. Reason number 2: although it is very hydrating, it is incredibly light and airy (just like a mousse should be). It’s not at all greasy and sinks right into the skin. 3) It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth ALL DAY. Usually I have to reapply creams and lotions constantly throughout the day, but this keeps my skin quenched and supple for hours on end. I bought this one in bulk (I have a giant bottle in my bathroom and a travel sized tube in my purse) and I suggest that you do too. It’s like ultra-nourishing body frosting and my skin eats it right up.

So there you have it, my six favorite products from one of my favorite Canadian brands, Cake Beauty. Have you tried any of these products? Are there any other Cake products I simply must try? Let’s chat in the comments!

February Beauty Picks

february-beauty-picks

So, I have been trying my very best to cut back on my spending this month. Why? My boyfriend and I went to Jamaica last week and stayed at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall. It was an absolutely gorgeous and luxurious trip but it was all insanely expensive. Seriously. Beyonce and Jay-Z pricey. I don’t know who I thought I was. I’ll be paying off this trip for the next couple of months and so my favorite little indulgences have to be sacrificed for the time being. Goodbye $6 matcha lattes, sushi takeout, and perfume binges. That being said, my monthly subscription to Ipsy‘s Glam Bags is one treat that I will be keeping. For $14 a month I get five miniature beauty products from luxe brands like Tarte and Too Faced and that is simply too delightful to pass up. I honestly haven’t bought a tube of mascara in ages because they keep sending me different ones (and despite being samples, the sizes are pretty generous!). If you haven’t already signed up for a beauty subscription service like Ipsy (Birchbox is another good one), I highly recommend it! You get a lot for your money and it’s a fabulous way to try new products and colours that you normally wouldn’t have access to or think to buy. A lot of the products I have received have become favorites of mine and are ones that I will definitely repurchase when I run out. So without further ado, here are five products that I have absolutely fallen in love with this month.

1 // Trust Fund Beauty – Nail Polish in $12 Latte

Okay, so I have never in my life thought to buy a brown nail polish. I just thought it was a dull colour and I generally like my finger nails to be fresh, clean, and simple. I normally lean towards pale petal pinks, nudes, and french manis. When I received this in my Ipsy bag I was actually kind of disappointed because the deep brown/purple hue was such a departure from my signature style. I loved the cheeky name as someone who enjoys her overpriced coffee. After giving the colour a try I quickly changed my tune. It’s very dark, almost black, but seems to change subtly from deep coffee brown to dark purple depending on the light. It’s not at all goth and has a subtle sophistication that I love. I won’t wear it much longer – it’s too dark for summer. It’s the perfect moody shade for fall and provides a striking contrast against my silver rings.

2 //  Tarte – Amazonian Clay 12-hour Naughty Nudes Blush in Sensual

If your favorite bronzer and peachy blush had a baby, this would be it. It’s a beautiful shade that instantly warms up the complexion and lasts a crazy long time (12 hours is absolutely accurate). It’s great for the winter months and brightens up a pale visage. It also enhances my newly acquired Jamaica tan and looks beautiful against darker complexions.

3 //  The Balm Cosmetics – Meet Matt(e) Trimony Matte Eyeshadow Palette

I am kind of obsessed with this palette. I rarely wear colour on my lids and almost exclusively opt for play-it-safe neutrals but I can honestly say that I adore every single one of these shades and they work great for day and night. Each shade is named after a different Matt – i.e. Matt Lopez, Matt Reed, Matt Evans. My favorite colour is Matt Moskowitz. It’s a lovely dark purple that is subtle enough to work for every day while still providing a fresh pop of colour. I’ve been wearing it every day lately instead of my usual brown and taupe shades.

4 // NYX – Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry

Creamy, moisturizing, highly pigmented, long-lasting – this HG of a lipstick seriously ticks every single one of my boxes. The satin finish is gorgeous and is a refreshing change from the over saturation of matte options out there. I honestly cannot get enough of the juicy colour which is reminiscent of raspberry wine. It’s very sultry without being super dark. I’ve been wearing it every day since I got it and I doubt I will be tucking it away anytime soon. Love. Love. Love.

5 //  Be Fine Food Skin Care – Gentle Face Cleanser

If any of you have read my other posts, you will know that skincare is one of my (many) obsessions. No amount of makeup can truly cover up unhealthy skin and so I make it the main focus of my beauty routine and I do my best to use quality products and a consistent regime. Whatever your skin type, I can pretty much guarantee that this lovely cleanser would be a happy addition to your own routine. This soothing cleanser whisks away all traces of makeup, oil, sweat, and gunk without leaving my face feeling parched. It also manages to remove my waterproof mascara without any problems – a difficult feat. True to its name, this nourishing cleanser is packed with vitamin-rich ingredients such as oat bran extract, wheat amino acids, and sugar cane. Sweet.

November Beauty Picks

Although I love to experiment with my makeup and play with different hairstyles, the foundation of my beauty routine is a solid skincare system. This hasn’t always been the case. When I was younger I was quite rough with my skin – I would go to bed without taking my makeup off, I’d pick at pimples, I’d scrub my face with harsh, sandpaper like formulas (St. Ives Shards of Glass Apricot Scrub, I’m looking at you), I would always forego SPF. When it comes to universally known skincare sins, you name it, I did it. In my late teens I began to develop more of an interest in skincare and sought out help from estheticians and facialists to give me a better sense of how to take care of my complexion. What did I learn? Less is generally more and to exfoliate and moisturize regularly, albeit gently (there is no reason to rub sharp, overly abrasive scrubs into your skin, unless you are trying to remove calluses from the soles of your feet). In the winter, when the air is cold, dry, and unforgiving, my skincare routine becomes a little more indulgent – think masks, serums, oils, etc. I keep my makeup simple, focusing instead on keeping a glowing complexion. Behold, my five favorite beauty products this month.

1 // Lush – Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub

LUSH has become a favorite brand of mine over the years. Why? Their products are often vegan, are ethically produced, and are handcrafted using nourishing, organic ingredients. Ocean Salt is a tried and true classic and is one of the brand’s most popular products. I can totally see why. First, it smells like a margarita thanks to its clarifying blend of vodka, salt, and lime. Second, it manages to deeply cleanse and exfoliate my skin without making it break out – this is no easy feat. It’s not a scrub I use everyday (it’s quite stimulating), but it’s great for giving my skin a rosy glow and keeping my complexion free of blackheads and flakes. I use it about once a week.

2 // Lush – Let the Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser

Ahh. This may have taken Angels on Bare Skin’s place as my all-time favorite cleanser. With hydrating corn oil, maize flour, warming cinnamon, and exfoliating cornmeal, this moisturizing cleanser makes my face feel like silk. Plus it smells absolutely amazing – like sweet caramel corn or buttery pancakes. The texture is a little bit gritty but isn’t too abrasive. I use it everyday and it’s like a gentle polish for my skin.

3 // ModelCo- Contour Stick

I used to be a little bit hesitant about applying contour during the day. It felt too extreme and getting it juust right can be very challenging. Enter this delightful gem from ModelCo. I simply draw a little line under my cheekbones and along the sides of my nose before blending it well with a sponge. I then dust a little bit of bronzer on top. Bam! A natural, glowy, sculpted look that looks anything but clownish. I love how blendable this product is and the creamy formula lends a slight dewiness to my complexion.

4 // Naked Cosmetics – Advanced Skin Cream

Next to exfoliating, moisturizing regularly has made the biggest difference in my skin. I can be a little bit high-maintenance with my routine (I have night creams, day creams, serums, oils, and eye-creams) but this is the moisturizer I keep in my purse for when I’m on the go and I use it more than any other moisturizer. With light yet hydrating ingredients such as aloe vera, shea butter, and algae, it never fails me and consistently leaves my skin feeling supple with a dewy glow.

5 // Too Faced – Better Than Sex Mascara

Better than sex? That’s a tall order for a mascara to deliver on. Still, this tried and true fan favorite lives up to its name. With plenty of collagen in its formula, it lifts, lengthens, and thickens my lashes in only a couple of swoops. Truly, I look like Bambi when I use this bad boy. Only sultrier. This is an expensive formula but it is one that I like to treat myself to. Try it. When you see your long, lush, fluttery lashes you will agree that it is worth every single penny.

Hydrating Lemon Sugar Scrub DIY

via I Save A to Z

One of my favorite steps in my skincare routine is exfoliating. There is something that is so satisfying about sloughing off all of the dead skin, oil, and dirt that has accumulated on my complexion at the end of the day. My skin is very sensitive though, and so I have to be careful about the exfoliants I use (anytime a product contains crushed shells of any kind – case in point, the walnut shells in St. Ives Apricot scrub, my face freaks out). Lately I’ve taken to making my own face scrubs as opposed to buying them and I find that they work just as well and are a lot gentler on the skin. This lemon scrub is my favorite as it is very hydrating but balances the oil production in my skin with astringent lemon juice. It also smells like lemon merengue pie and takes five minutes to make. In fact, you probably have all of the ingredients in your kitchen right now. Here’s how it’s done.

Things You’ll Need

  • 1 Cup – Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup – Course Sea Salt
  • Coconut Oil or Jojoba Oil (enough to get a fluffy, snow-like consistency)
  • 1 tsp – Almond Oil
  • 1 Vitamin E Capsule
  • 1 tsp – Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tbsp – Lemon Juice

Put the sugar and salt in a small bowl and gradually add the oils until you get the consistency you want for your scrub (I like mine to be light and fluffy). Next, split open a vitamin E capsule and stir it into your mixture. Add the vanilla extract and lemon juice and stir until everything is completely mixed. Store in a mason jar or air-tight container. You don’t have to keep it in the fridge as it keeps pretty well for a few weeks, but I do like the feeling of using this mask on my face when it is nice and cold.

To Use: Massage onto damp skin in circular motions. Rinse off with cold water and pat dry. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer or facial oil.

So there you have it, easy peasy. I really love this scrub and find that it is gentle enough to use every other day (and my skin is very sensitive). The oils hydrate and protect your skin’s natural barrier while the lemon juice tones and brightens the skin. For those of you that may try it, let me know how you feel about the results!

August Beauty Picks

Summer may just be my absolute favorite season when it comes to beauty. It’s low-maintenance, playful, and fun in a way that other seasons aren’t. This summer my focus has been hair and skincare more than anything else. My hair and skin both tend to be very dry and during the summer, with the hot, dry weather, it gets even more dehydrated. I have been trying to combat these beauty woes with a whole lot of hydration, not just in terms of drinking lots of water, but with my products as well. Hair masks, conditioning treatments, and non-drying breakout treatments (my dehydrated skin overcompensates in the summer by producing excess oil) have been my savior. Here are the five products I have been obsessed with this month.

1 //  Marc Anthony – Argan Conditioning Treatment

Not only is this nourishing conditioner super hydrating, it is also very light and not at all greasy. It keeps my dry, curly hair shiny, soft, and manageable. And the fact that it smells like a bouquet of fresh lilies is a total plus.

2 // NYX – Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam

I don’t like to wear foundation in the summer, but I do like to make sure that my complexion has a fresh, healthy glow. This illuminator has quickly become my favorite. It’s delicate shimmer and rose gold tint creates a natural, sunkissed look that is polished but never overdone.

3 // Formula X – Nail Polish in Dollface

Lately, I have been favoring soft, neutral colours on my fingernails because they are clean, classic and go with everything. This baby pink shade from Formula X is so pretty against a tan and is feminine without being too girly. Although I love a dark, vampy red on my nails in the Fall, I have a feeling I will be wearing this colour well into Winter.

4 // Essence – Longlasting Lipstick in On The Runway

I am an unabashed lipstick junkie with about twenty different colours in my makeup bag. This rosy, ruby red hue is just so flattering and makes my face looked polished and put together even when I’m wearing no makeup. This formula is inexpensive, long lasting and hydrating to boot – in other words, it’s everything I want in a lipstick.

5 // Burt’s Bees – Herbal Blemish Stick

My skin is always at its most temperamental during the summer. My skin gets super dry during the hotter months and produces way more oil than usual. That combined with sweat and melting makeup results in a complexion that is uneven and a little bit spotty. I love this product from Burt’s Bees because it clears up my skin without drying it out more. With natural, acne-fighting essential oils such as tea tree, fennel, willowbark, and juniper, my little bumps go away in no time after putting this on. Bonus: it smells like licorice.
